EXPERIENCE

 

Mr. Kovacic has over twenty-five years of experience in the areas of accounting, finance, law, tax, human resources and information systems. He has experience as a corporate executive, an owner and director with international service firms, and as a professor in academic institutions. He has served in and consulted with individuals and firms in a broad range of industries.

 

PROFESSIONAL LICENSES

 

Mr. Kovacic is an attorney at law, licensed to practice before the California Supreme Court, Minnesota Supreme Court, The Wisconsin Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts and the U.S Tax Court. Mr. Kovacic is also a Certified Public Accountant, and is licensed to practice in California, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He has been active in the American and state Bar and Certified Public Accountant Associations. Mr. Kovacic is also a California licensed Real Estate Broker and a Realtor®. Mr. Kovacic is a licensed private and commercial pilot with instrument rating in single engine and multi-engine aircraft. 

 

EDUCATION

 

Mr. Kovacic holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire; a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota, Curtis L. Carlson School of Management, and a Juris Doctor from Hamline University School of Law.

 

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

 

Mr. Kovacic is an Adjunct Professor at California Western School of Law, and has been appointed to teach employment benefits law, compensation planning, trusts and estates and federal income taxation. Mr. Kovacic is also an Adjunct Professor in the College of Business Administration at California State University, San Marcos, and has been appointed to teach international corporate finance, personal financial management, financial and managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, advanced accounting, auditing, cost accounting, accounting information systems, income taxation and business law.

 

Mr. Kovacic is a member of the American Bar Association, and belongs to the Sections on Business and Corporate Law, Labor and Employment Law and Taxation. Mr. Kovacic founded and served as Editor in Chief of The State and Local Tax Lawyer, published by the American Bar Association Tax Section. He is a member of the executive committee of the ABA State and Local Taxation Committee. Mr. Kovacic is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Kovacic is a member of the Institute for Professional in Taxation, and he is a Certified Member of the Institute in property taxation. Mr. Kovacic has served on the Board of Directors of numerous organizations, including the California Taxpayers’ Association, the Contra Costa County Taxpayers Association and the San Diego Taxpayers’ Association. He acted as vice-chair of the San Diego Baseball Stadium Committee. He has also been active in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Council on State Taxation and in Tax Executives Institute, where he served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for both the San Francisco and San Diego Chapters. Mr. Kovacic has served as an outside advisor to government agencies, including the California Franchise Tax Board, California Economic Development Department and the Minnesota Department of Revenue.
